Team Releases Zoi Dimitrakou
Washington, D.C. –
Washington Mystics general manager and head coach Mike Thibault announced that the team has added guard Jamie Weisner to the roster.
“Jamie has played both wing positions in college and this is an opportunity for her to try to prove herself at this level,” said Thibault. “With all the injuries we've had, I felt like we needed to make a change to add to our depth."
This year, the 5-10 guard from Oregon State, led her team to their first Final Four appearance in school history and a PAC-12 conference championship. As a senior, she averaged 17.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 44.3 percent from three-point range.
Weisner earned numerous accolades during her career at Oregon State. She was named the Pac-12 Player of Year as well as the Pac-12 tournament Most Outstanding Player. She received Second Team All-American honors by the Associated Press and ESPNW and All-Pac-12 First Team.
Weisner was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in this year’s draft in the second round (17th overall).
Natasha Cloud has missed the team’s last two games due to illness and is not with the team as they get ready to take on the Seattle Storm on May 26 and the Phoenix Mercury on May 29. Washington waived forward Zoi Dimitrakou.
